Our motto is a commitment to employees' welfare.   The official telephone lines are Corporate Affairs: 08113592555, SERVICOM: 08113592554, Headquarters (Abuja): +234-9-2911810, +234-9-2911811.   The official emails are as follows: General Enquiries: info@nsitf.gov.ng, Corporate Affairs: corporateaffairs@nsitf.gov.ng, Claims Processing: claims@nsitf.gov.ng.   The Employees' Compensation Scheme (ECS) : Benefits to both employees and employers.    Our approved service fees are as follows: 1) Employer Contribution: 1% of the total monthly payroll (total emoluments) as mandated by the Employees' Compensation Act (ECA) 2010. 2) Registration/Certification Fee: Approximately N50,000 for initial registration and certification processing. 3) Late Filing Penalty: 5% to 10% penalty per month on unpaid or un-remitted contributions.   The timelines for key services are as follows: 1) Compliance Certificate Issuance: Typically processed within 5 working days upon successful submission of all requirements and verification of payment. 2) Incident Reporting: Employers must report workplace accidents or injuries within 7 days of occurrence. 3) Claims Filing: Formal claim applications should be submitted within 21 days of the incident or diagnosis.   The procedures for accessing Key Services are as follows: 1) Registration: Obtain and complete Form ECS RE01 (Registration of Employer) and Form ECS RE03 (Employer Schedule of Payment). 2) Payment: Payments are made via the Remita platform after an assessment of staff remuneration by NSITF. 3) Certification: Submit an official request letter along with the Certificate of Incorporation (CAC), completed ECS forms, and evidence of payment to receive the Compliance Certificate. 4) Claims: In case of injury, the employer submits the Notification of Accident form (ECS CCF01) along with medical reports and police reports (where applicable) for evaluation and compensation.   As at March 2024, a total of 23,855 employers are compliant.

The Freedom of Information Act, 2011 ”FOIA grants a person, group or association or organization the right to access information from Government agencies, parastatals, Federal Civil Service, Private and Public Sector Organizations providing public services. Section 39 of the 1999 Constitution provides inter alia that “every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information without interference.”

 

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RESPONDING TO AN FOIA REQUEST?

The Legal Department of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund is responsible for responding to an FOIA request.

 

HOW IS AN FOIA REQUEST MADE?

To get information under the FOIA, a request must be made electronically or by a letter in a written form describing the information required and preferred format of response. All FOIA request should be sent to email: legal@nsitf.gov.ng or a written letter sent to General Manager, Legal Department, NSITF HQ No.794 Muhammadu Buhari Way, Central Area, FCT, Abuja.

Time Frame for handling FOIA Request

Save an exemption applies, if the information requested is held by the FUND, the information shall be provided within Seven(7) days.

IS THERE A FEE FOR MAKING FOIA REQUEST?

Yes, a fee will be charged to recover cost of document searches and duplication.

RECORDS EXEMPTED FROM FOIA

i. Records classified on national security grounds
ii. Records that will constitute an unwarranted invasion of an individual privacy
iii. Records compiled for law enforcement purposes
iv. Records protected from release by other statutes aside the FOIA
